Improve your practical knowledge at the IP Academy – Advanced

Winthontlaan 6, 3526 KV Utrecht, Utrecht, Netherlands

Follow the annual course on patents, trademarks and designs. For innovative entrepreneurs who wish to improve their intellectual property (IP) know-how, V.O. Patents & Trademarks organizes a basic course on IP on Thursday 1 November 2018. This course will be given, in English, by our attorneys and feature many practical examples and skill trainings. In terms of content, this course can be compared to the previous editions of our IP Academy course.

Advanced course – 15 November

The advanced course is intended for IP managers and IP responsibles having some practical experience. The course is in line with the basic course, but is also accessible to those who have not followed the basic course.  The focus of the advanced course is on the strategic importance of IP. The course also addresses topics like financing, valuation, forms of collaboration, and the rights and obligations involved in licensing.

V.O. also offers a basic course (1 November), this course addresses practical aspects of IP and is intended for those who are still relatively unfamiliar with IP. The course teaches the basic terminology, how to read a patent and what possibilities are offered by IP. The day will be rounded off with a game in which the newly acquired IP skills can be practiced. For more information about the basic course, one is referred to the webpage IP Academy – Basic.

New this year: Valuation of Intellectual Property

Patent protection is of paramount importance in the technology industry, especially when large up-front investments are required for developing a marketable product. Filing and maintaining a patent portfolio, however, can be a costly endeavor. The ability to quantitatively assess and communicate the value of a patent portfolio can lead to more substantiated internal discussions and better decisions. In this session we will discuss a general approach to the valuation of intellectual property and how you can apply this to your own portfolio.
