Take the beginner’s course on patents, trademarks, and designs. For innovative entrepreneurs who want to increase their knowledge of intellectual property (IP), V.O. Patents & Trademarks is organizing a basic IP course on Thursday, November 13.
This course is taught in English by our experts and includes numerous practical examples and skill exercises. In terms of content, the course is similar to previous editions.
Basic course – Thursday, 13 November
The Basic course focuses on practical aspects of IP and is intended for people who are still relatively unfamiliar with IP. In the course, you will learn the basic concepts, how to read a patent, and what possibilities IP offers you. The day will end with a game that puts IP into practice.
V.O. also offers an Advanced course. This will be held on Thursday, December 11, and is intended for IP managers and officers who already have some practical experience. For more information, please refer to the IP Academy – Advanced webpage.

9:00 – 9:30 a.m.: Welcome (Henri van Kalkeren) with coffee and tea
9:30 – 10:30 a.m.: Introduction to patents, trademarks, and designs (Raimondo Cau)
10:30 – 11:15 a.m.: Official authorities, requirements, processing times, portfolio administration (Raimondo Cau)
11:15 – 12:00 p.m.: Introduction to searching (Marijke Westra)
12:00 – 12:45 p.m.: Lunch
12:45 – 1:30 p.m.: Infringement, opposition, freedom to operate (Blijke Kroezen)
1:30 – 2:15 p.m.: Patent claims examined in detail (Matthijs Roelofs)
2:15 – 3:15 p.m.: Game: Activate your Ideas – IP in practice (Huub Maas + team: Henri van Kalkeren, Blijke Kroezen, Matthijs Roelofs, Julia Leene)
3:15 – 3:30 p.m.: Break
3:30 – 4:15 p.m.: Evaluation of the game 4:15 p.m. – 4:45 p.m.: Conclusion, certificate
