V.O. has received two awards for patent work at the Managing IP Awards 2021, which were presented in a virtual ceremony on 30 March 2021. The firm was named ‘Patent Prosecution Firm of the Year’ in the Netherlands. The Patent Prosecution award recognizes patent filing and prosecution work before the Netherlands Patent Office and the European Patent Office. During the past year, VO has dealt with complex patent oppositions for companies such as Atlas Copco, Jacobs Douwe Egberts and Stamicarbon.
In addition, V.O. also won an award for ‘Cross-Border Patent Litigation Team of the Year’ in Europe. This award celebrates work on notable cross-border cases in Europe. V.O. was commended for its part in helping Eli Lilly and Company to enforce and defend its patent for the drug Pemetrexed in France, Germany and the Netherlands. The firm provided patent litigation support to ensure Eli Lilly and Company can enforce and defend its Pemetrexed patent in the Netherlands.
Other significant patent proceedings the firm was involved with include Novartis’ infringement action against Teva and Heineken’s dispute with AB InBev over beer dispensers.
