Als octrooigemachtigde houdt Martin zich voornamelijk bezig met het opstellen van aanvragen, het bepleiten van octrooieerbaarheid en rechtszaken. Hij is actief AIPPI-lid, met name op het gebied van farmaceutische producten. Door zijn kennis van onderzoek en chemie, in combinatie met zijn kennis van de octrooiwetgeving, kan hij op een efficiënte manier communiceren met zowel uitvinders, specialisten als juristen. Martins werk kenmerkt zich door diepgaand inzicht in het functioneren van een uitvinding, zijn oog voor detail en snel begrip van technische relevantie, evenals door zijn sociale houding. Zijn bijzondere aandacht als octrooigemachtigde gaat uit naar farmaceutische producten en voedings- en gezondheidsproducten.

In zijn hoedanigheid van European Patent Litigator, is Martin bevoegd om als UPC representative op te treden.
